Core Categories 1-4 are flexible. In PACE Plans, if funding is exhausted in one Core category, claims submitted will automatically draw from remaining Flexible Core funds.
In PACE plans, categories 1-4 in Core Supports are flexible. Category 16 (Home and Living) is included within Core but is not flexible.
For plans that have category 16 funding, you will see a Flexible Subtotal row within the Core Supports. The remaining amount here will be the amount you can use across claims in categories 1-4.
As PACE plans do not have Service Bookings, funds do not need to be reallocated across flexible categories to use them.
To utilise flexible budgets in Core on PACE plans:
- Ensure the category you are trying to claim is listed on the plan. For example, while funding is flexible, if category 3 (Consumables) is not listed on the plan you will be unable to claim from it.
- Create your claim as normal. When entering a claim line, the system will show the available/unavailable amounts for the specific category you are claiming from, however funds can be pulled from any flexible category if required.
- Submit the claim as normal.
- When funds are exhausted in a flexible Core category and the NDIS has drawn from another flexible Core category to fund supports, the remaining budget will display as a negative value and will be highlighted in red preceded with a minus sign (e.g.,
).
Additionally, if the Service Agreement (SA) allocated amount surpasses the approved budget for that category, it will also appear as a negative value.
