Funding Period Back Claiming
The back claiming guardrail will block claim lines from drawing from exhausted funding periods
This is a setting in your agency configuration and will be set to block by default.
A claim line will trigger a blocking alert if it draws from a funding period where the budget has been fully utilised and no earlier released budget is available.
How Planability Supports Funding Period Reviews
Recent NDIA guidance acknowledges that support needs do not always align with funding periods and outlines circumstances where claims may be made in a subsequent funding period. Many Plan Managers still prefer to be alerted when a claim exceeds a funding period so it can be reviewed before proceeding. For more information, please refer to the latest NDIA guidance.
Planability helps agencies identify these situations through the Backclaiming Guardrail. When a claim exceeds a funding period, the guardrail alerts users so the circumstances can be reviewed before proceeding.
Organisations can determine how these exceptions should be assessed in line with their own policies and procedures

If the support dates fall within a funding period with no or insufficient remaining budget, and there is released budget available from an earlier period that can be rolled over, the claim will NOT be blocked.
